Bluegrass Tour
(Subject to change) |
General Description:
This is a loop tour of the Bluegrass Region around Lexington, Kentucky featuring the Kentucky Horse Park, backcountry roads in the horse farm area. Plan to visit a horse farm, see the Castle at Versailles, historic homes and Keeneland Race Track (not racing but the grounds are beautiful).
Travel Description:
Depart the hotel around 7:00 AM, proceeding around the east end of the city toward Lexington, Kentucky either of these two options:
- Cars being trailered, take Interstate 64 & 75 to Kentucky Horse Park. There you can park your trailer, unload your vehicle and begin the tour then.
- Cars being driven will take US 60 to begin the tour at Old Frankfort Pike
The tour loop will be the same; it just starts at different places because there is no trailer parking where the Frankfort Pike starts. Maps will clearly mark both routes.
Total Round Trip Distance:
Approximately 175 miles
Roads:
Two lane for the most part except if you want to take the Interstate
Speed:
25 to 45 miles per hour on the loop tour depending on how fast you want to drive
This is a long tour so allow for a full day. You should be back by 6:00 PM.
Costs:
Admission to the Horse Park is $15 per person; there is free parking for the trailers and cars with our group rate). The rest of the tour is no cost, unless you stop at places on your own.
Special Note:
The World Equestrian Games will be held in the Horse Park three months after our tour, so there could be some changes to pricing or size limits on groups but currently we don not anticipate any problems.
